It’s All Very Exciting

by Amanda on November 19, 2012

When I woke up and started perusing my Twitter feed, I think I saw the word “motivation” at least once every other Tweet. People, I saw it A LOT. I guess you can blame the fact that it’s Monday. Or that it’s basically the holiday season. Who knows? I don’t have a lot of time this week, I really don’t. But I wanted to at least share some active things that are getting me pretty excited right now!

Runner’s World Run Streak

The idea for this streak is that you run at least one mile every day from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. I’m not crazily training for anything right now, so my brain is definitely up for the challenge. I’m pretty sure my knee will be too. This week I might graduate from PT, but I’ll keep doing the exercises to make sure my knee stays in tip top shape into 2013. If I need to, I’ll just run really slowly. Or really quickly because it’ll be over faster. Hm.

EncouragementRunning! Hooray!

Turkey Trot 5K

I’ve never participated in a Turkey Trot before, but I found one in Bethlehem! It’s nice and close to my family’s house and it’s my dad’s birthday on the 24th! I’m trying to convince he and my mom to just walk it while Paul and I run and then loop back around to finish it off with them. We’ll see what they say, but I really want to do it! He already nixed the idea of dressing up as turkeys…but I still have hope.

Hand TurkeyGobble gobble.

Aaaand just like that, my plan of taking the rest of the year off is busted. But I can look past it as long as you can too. But I’m feeling good! And I will be smart about it! You have my word(s).

Hot Chocolate 10K

BEING SMART = SIGNING UP FOR ANOTHER RACE! So this isn’t an “official Hot Chocolate” run in a sense that the same company isn’t running it. But am I running? Yes. Do I get hot chocolate at the end? Yes. So as far as I’m concerned, it’s good to go. And it’s in New York City!! It’s my first out of state race and I am really excited!! I just have to buy those running tights that I stare at every work shift to stay warm.

And finally!

Elf4Health

You might see a new badge on my blog today. And that’s because I’m officially signed up to be an Elf for Health with The Lean Green Bean and Nutritionella!

nutritionella
Definitely head over to the link and check it out. I am really excited about this! For six weeks, you get to be an elf and encourage/motivate/cheer for/befriend another participant. There are challenges everyday too! I’m really excited, but I hope I can be an amazing elf!!
What are you doing exciting lately? How do you dress up for Turkey Trots?

I’m so bummed that Turkey Trot is on Saturday, I’ll already be back in DC! I’m starting the Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge today. I’m excited about that! :)

I really wanted to do the hot chocolate race but they got rid of the DC one. It is literally my dream race! Running and chocolate… doesn’t get any better than that :)

ooo I might be tempted to do the hot chocolate run! I’ve been looking for future NYC races, but this means I need to stock up on cold weather gear…
