A Detox of a Different Kind

by Amanda on January 14, 2013

Hello Monday and everybody else who happens to be reading this, whether you’re kicking Monday’s butt or it is threatening to whoop yours. All around, it’s a good day! I just would love to go back to bed or maybe just get my sinuses cleared out. I’m under the impression that my body would frown on taking them out completely, but I haven’t eliminated the idea this morning.

CHAARG Cleanse

So today should be the second day of the CHAARG cleanse that I so willingly adventurously signed up for. I went through it with my mom and tailored it more to me. I had raw veggie ideas so I would be prepared. I was PUMPED to reset my system and see what was going on with my tummy troubles. And then when I woke up yesterday and felt the way I felt and heard of my night sweating attractiveness, I heard my body telling me to HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE.

So that adventure is on hold for a minute (maybe more than one?) while my immune system dukes it out with what Isweartoallthingsgoodinthisworld better not be the flu.

Purell

Well hello there, you pretty little thing.

While getting un-sick and staying that way is an adventure in itself, I decided I should at least do SOME sort of detox to get my brain cells working out. And then when I snapped at Paul for the 32509476th time about being on his phone ALWAYS and being dead to the world when he is, it hit me.

Yeah, yeah. Technology detox. It ain’t no big thing. Been there, done that. But do I really need to go through my ritual of wake up-check phone-check e-mail on phone-check Facebook-check Twitter-go on computer and repeat justtomakesure it hasn’t changed in the last five seconds? Check my Bloglovin’ reader a million times a day to make sure I don’t miss anything?

No, no I don’t!

Slave to Technology

Appropriate.

So I’m exercising my right to put technology down this week. Because it all will still be there when I do get around to checking it. Once I post this, I’ll poke around for a little getting my comment on but I don’t need to go crazy about it. I need to focus on work, A LOT of packing, getting better, getting ready for school, and being an all around fun person. Obviously, I’m still blogging. But I think it wouldn’t affect the world if I cut it down to three posts a week. Once school starts, it’s just going to happen anyway.

Without the technology blanket.

Will it be easy? Probably not totally! But I’ll be armed with puzzle books, reading books, exercise, etc. I’ll be okay.

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!

And have a wonderful Monday!

Have you ever gone through a technology detox? Does it drive you nuts when people don’t respond because they’re 100000% distracted by their phones?

I need to do a detox too. I spend all day reading blogs and once I get to school, I can’t let it interfere with my studies. Good for you for putting your foot down and stepping away from the computer!

Hope you feel better Amanda!! I LOVE technology detoxes. They always feel so good- like you’re finally released from the death-hold of your phone and computer. I was just reading a cool concept about dopamine and addiction to technology, not because it gives us pleasure, but because it gives us the “promise” of pleasure with just “one more click”. It’s why people keep scrolling through a website or keep checking their email- because that little surge of dopamine tells us that the next scroll through could be the “really good one” but it’s never that rewarding. Crazy right!?!?!?
