Adventure is Out There!

by Amanda on January 4, 2013

Yes, well, hello again. And happy Friday! It totally feels 0% like a Friday, but I know what that means. This relaxing and lovely vacation is almost over and soon I’ll be headed back into real world land with the rest of you. Hooray for working and doctoring and eventually some school too. One really cool thing that’s happened though is that I’m actually journaling! Which, if you recall, means I am hacking away at those resolutions.

Journal

And one word has come up in my journal, my blog, my Twitter, and my life in general over and over and OVER again. ADVENTURE. Say it. Go on, totally say it out loud right this second. Feel how it is in your mouth…all the syllables, everything. Imagine it written in fancy wedding invitation script when you’re saying it. Feels good, don’t it?

Adventure Is Out There

You can say it like Russell too. <3

If you’ve been reading, you know that Gabby Bernstein’s  books have been on my radar. And a lot of the talk was about things coming to you, especially through journaling. And I think, my friends, I have found a way to live this year. I think this will shift my viewpoints of challenging times and make my brain a lot easier to deal with. I think it will also make those times that are super exciting even MORE exciting. More exciting because they are a part of my life and I adventured to get there. I did something to get that thing accomplished. I didn’t just sit there and wait for adventure to fall into my lap.

#adventureyear

Will I fall INTO somebody’s lap? Yes probably.

I’m also a Nervous Nelly, thankyouverymuch Dad-genes. I’ll tell you that right now. Nine times out of ten, I am VERY good at talking myself out of doing something because I’m not good enough. But I NEED to stop doing that, especially with any professional opportunities that come my way this year (e-mail in my inbox, I’m looking at you). Skiing? AS I’M WRITING THIS I’m saying that I probably won’t be good so it will be a waste of money.

But it’s an adventure, is it not? It also so happens to be on my resolution list. So it wouldn’t be very fair for me to ignore it, now would it?

#fitnessbucketlist

It’s also conveniently on my #fitnessbucketlist!

So, here we are, at the fourth day in January. You’re probably going to see my new hashtag springing up all over the place. You are totally welcome to use it too. I don’t run the laws of Twitter. In fact, I’d love to see you use it! Depending on how many people are interested, I would totally dig posting a bunch of them so we can inspire other people. But that’s me dreaming big again!

You heard it here first! 2013 is officially #adventureyear!

Now get out there and adventure!

What’s your theme for the year? Does #adventureyear sound like something that tickles your fancy?

That’s so exciting to hear! I definitely need a readjustment and this excites me. ;) I’m so nervous about skiing though! I totally don’t have the right clothes. I think it’s gonna be a cold one!! Have so much fun today.

So excited you get to go skiing for the first time – I remember my first experience in middle school (on a school trip!) and it was very memorable! I love your adventureyear, what a great theme!

Thanks! And yeah, I feel like I’ll just about have the awkward body handling of a middle schooler. Haha. I can’t wait to try!

Ahhh skiing for the first time?! That’s SO exciting! It’s the best winter sport ever created, in my opinion ;)
Your adventure resolution goes perfectly with my #enjoylife one. Twinsies!

#adventureyear sounds so wonderful!!! adventure is really not just your typical extreme sports or rollercoasters (though your skiing is admirable!) that first come to mind. it’s taking plunges, doing ANYTHING that scares you, even if it’s skipping a workout or eating dessert or asking out a cute boy. so yes i’m all over #adventureyear, and all over gabby bernstein books too, can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

AMEN. Exactly! Applying adventure to everyday things is totally up my alley. So glad that you said that. :)

Wait, how have you never been skiing PA girl???
Where are you heading? Don’t worry about being “good” right away. The first time you go, they’ll make the bindings that hold your boots to your skis so loose that they’ll pop right off if you fall and it will be hard to get hurt :) You’ll have so much fun. Honestly, falling skiing is kind of fun – granted not if you’re in the olympics going 110929 miles per hour, but put putting down the bunny trails…it’s not bad :)

I don’t know I don’t know! I’m at Big Boulder, but I think you figured it out by my facebook picture. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Oh my gosh. Come back to PA and we can go skiing some more.

Loving the whole “adding adventure” thing! I ski a few times a year, you will love it. Don’t forget your long underwear! Oh and ski goggles will be your best friend! Cheers, Tara

SO jealous of everybody who had goggles. I wasn’t going to buy them and I couldn’t find where to rent them. Definitely a little squinty-eyed.
