It's easy to tell how good the twist is on any kind of carpeting. When you have a sample on hand, look at its ends up close. If they appear to be neat and tight, they have probably been twisted many times. Carpeting with great twist quality has a uniform and level appearance; the end of each tuft matches closely with the ends of other tufts. The end result is neat and orderly. If the ends are frayed and loose, though, the carpeting doesn't have a high twist level. This means that it will get damaged with ease and it won't last you for very long.
Upkeep. If you have a vacuum, make sure you clean your rugs and carpets with it on a regular basis. It's a good idea to clean them every 7 days, but cleaning daily is better. Why is it important to vacuum on a daily basis? Well, carpets and rugs capture dust all the time and this makes them look untidy. If you want to keep them looking great, consistent vacuuming is the way to go. After all, regular upkeep is necessary should you want to keep things in working order.
The next thing you should think about is what effect you want to create when designing the room. Do you want a lavish or luxurious look, a simple look, a fun look for a playroom, or just a relaxed feeling room. This will help you determine what style, grade and texture you need. Next you will want to think about the color. The color of the carpet can make or break a room. There are so many colors and designs available when it comes to carpet selection. You can find most any color to compliment your room, regardless to the color of the furniture, walls or other decor.
When people think of carpet cleaning, the first thing that most will think of is a vacuum cleaner. It's a good idea to vacuum your carpet several times a week, if not every day. Vacuuming is partly a preventative measure, the dust and hair that you get up today won't be giving you problems tomorrow. Vacuuming will also keep dirt from getting ground into your carpet. Yes, vacuuming is a chore, but making it a part of a routine will help keep your carpet looking new for years to come. It really only takes a few minutes a day.
Don't Forget Pile Height. One thing that you're sure to see noted in the descriptions of most types of carpeting is pile height. This is self-explanatory enough: It refers to how high above the backing individual fibers extend. The taller those pieces are, the greater the pile height is. Although some claim that high pile heights equal fragile carpet, the truth is that ultra-low pile heights only make sense for stairways, where safety has to be a top concern. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine and desirable for carpeting to have a decent pile height.
