Most all of us have carpet in our homes that we love and enjoy walking on everyday. Carpet comes in all different colors, shapes, and textures. Carpet is great to have in the home, but as we all know we have to work to keep it clean. Carpets that aren't clean regularly can cause health problems, especially if you have allergys. Carpet can trap dirt, dust, odors, moisture, and sometime even mold spores. Here are some great ways to prevent getting dirt and spills on your carpet. First of all, you should always try to take off your shoes when you walk on your carpet. Shoes can track in a lot of dirt as well as mud, rocks, oil, and many other unwanted substances. Also having pets can make your carpet age much faster. Pets can also track in dirt, mud, leaves, and many other things as well. A good idea might be to try and keep your pets in a room that doesn't have carpet. Another way to prevent carpet spills is to try and not eat or drink in any room that has carpet in it. Most carpet spills in the home are made because of someone accidentally knocking over a cup full of some kind of liquid that can stain the carpet.
Indoor outdoor carpeting has many areas that it can be used in, both indoors and out as the title suggests. Patios and small outdoor breakfast areas are enhanced greatly with the indoor outdoor carpet. You can go as rustic or as elegant as you want with this type of carpet, believe it or not. The low pile makes this carpet easy to clean and less likely to harbor allergens. In basements the carpet is great because it gives added cushioning to a floor that is normally hard as cement (pun intended) because it is cement. Padding underneath the carpet can make this floor a real delight for kids to play on. Their knees are protected as they move around on the floor learning to walk or playing with their toys.
Special cleanings. It's a great idea to take your carpets outside and then beat them with something solid to remove any dust and debris that even a powerful vacuum cleaner can't pull out. If the carpet is old or delicate, don't follow this trick or your carpet may get damaged. Spot Cleaning, As soon as your kid spills or throws up on your carpet, blot up the spot right away. Some people scrub the spills or pour water on them, which is not a good idea. All you have to do is blot it. Alternatively, you can use some home remedies. They won't cost you a dime and your carpet will get rid of the spills right away.
Prevention. First of all, you should try your level best to prevent problems from arising in the first place. For instance, if it is an area rug, make sure you and your kids remove their boots prior to stepping on it. Aside from this, food and drinks should also be kept away from the rug area if possible. Usually pets love to sleep on doormats, but make sure they do not. Instead, you should train your pets to make use of cats/dogs beds. Moreover, if your rug is expensive or decorative, it's not a good idea to spread it around an area where there is a lot of traffic. Ideally, you can place it in a doorway that people don't use very often. Make sure you don't put them in the main gate as this area gets a lot of traffic.
Once a spill or stain occurs, time is of the essence. There is a certain amount of time that passes before the stain begins to settle in and become nearly impossible to remove. It is up to you to ensure that you get the carpet cleaned as fast as you can. The many chemicals that are on the market can damage a few types of rugs if they are used on them. Make sure that you read the labels in an attempt to determine if you can use the chemical or not. While bleaching a light-colored rug seems like a good idea, the truth of the matter is that this is in fact a bad idea and can actually ruin a carpet with bleached splotches on the rug. Once this happens, it is a trip to the carpet store to replace the damaged item and install new carpet.
